The RPG Club

The clubs of LBCC are a great way for people to connect over common interests. One such club that is excellent for this is the RPG Club, or Role-Playing Game Club. Members of this club gather a few times a week to meet up, play games, and enjoy a dynamic storytelling experience set in various genres and settings. Their sole focus is on running role playing games twice a week, and have been doing so faithfully.

Nik Geier, the president of the RPG Club, gave a rundown of what he and a few of the other members do to keep the club running every week, on Mondays and Fridays.

“I run the club, I run the games on Fridays, and sometimes on Mondays. I sometimes trade off with Jim, Nathan runs fifth edition, and he pitches in a lot of the time, and the other one is Thien, who runs Star Wars. Mel also makes us food.”

The RPG Club has been around for awhile now, and the members have all put in great effort to keep things running, and to help create an ideal club for others to find enjoyment in an imaginative game experience, while being welcomed with open arms by the longstanding members. Nathan Harrow, when asked what he gets out of the club personally, responded as follows.

“Definitely friendship. If I didn’t go for an RPG Club, it would have taken me a lot longer to find a group of friends without the club atmosphere.”

With a diverse range of themes and settings for a lot of role playing games, it’s always interesting to note what someone’s favorite game would be out of the pick. Favorites included GURPS and Pathfinder. Thien Nguyen gave some insight on his favorite game.

“The progenitor of all RPGs, D&D. It’s the classic high fantasy that brings out the creative side of people, even people who seem to be really quiet or timid.”
